White Hat SEO

“Beware the Dark Side”, deals with those SEO companies that are less than straight forward, and how nice it would be if they were. We always do our best to keep everything we do white hat – we’re always honest with our clients, don’t engage in any unscrupulous practices, and make no secret about how we go about getting rankings for our clients. That being said, not every SEO company is as honest.

What’s Your Final Choice between Black Hat and White Hat SEO Techniques?

Article by Nathalie Fiset

You’ve come to a point that you feel there’s a need for great change in your business’ Internet marketing campaign. You have a choice between white hat and black hat SEO, the so-called good and bad techniques of search engine optimization, respectively. Which you should choose?

What Black Hat SEO Techniques Are All About

Black hat SEO techniques are also known as spamdexing and generally considered illegal and unethical by many. They can achieve the same benefits provided by white hat SEO techniques but they differ with the ways they use to achieve them. Domains are disposable as far as black hat SEO users are concerned and they tend to be more focused on short-term results. Also, the content found in their websites are generally directed to please search engines, never mind if it appears incoherent to human eyes.

Types of Black Hat SEO Techniques

Here are some of the most commonly used black hat SEO techniques today.

Keyword Stuffing

Internet marketers try to use their targeted keywords as many times possible to make it more “attention-grabbing” to search engine spiders. There are several ways for an online marketer to raise the keyword count in their content. Firstly, they can just insert the words every time there’s an opening, regardless of how it affects the quality of their content. Secondly, they can also try using hidden text: the words are invisible to the human eye – consider using white font color in a white background – but they’re nonetheless recognizable to search engine spiders and as far as black hat SEO users are concerned, that’s all that matters.

Doorway or Gateway Pages

These are very simple and poorly designed web pages that act as doorways or gateways to another but just as poorly designed web page. Doorway pages often contain a link you’re asked to click if you wish to obtain more information about a given topic. Clicking on the link, however, will lead you to a useless page, but as far as black hat SEO marketers are concerned, they’ve done their job because they’ve got you to visit and search engine spiders will count that in their favor.

Link Farming

Link farms are composed of various websites exchanging links with each other repeatedly to raise their search engine ranking. Link farms are also referred to as mutual admiration societies. A sybil attack, on the other hand, is similar to link farming but in this case, all blogs or websites are owned by just one person.

Page Hijacking

These are websites containing very similar content to popular and original websites. They hijack the content of other websites as a deceptive means of gaining traffic.

Other popular black hat SEO techniques include but are not limited to scraper websites, buying expired domains, referrer log spamming, mirror sites, cloaking, and URL redirection.

What White Hat SEO Techniques Are All About

Now, white hat SEO techniques on the other hand mostly, if not completely, dispend with the cloak and dagger stuff that its counterpart seems to be so much fond of. White hat SEO techniques are something you can see. They do not necessarily follow search engine guidelines to the letter but neither do they view search engines per se as the enemy. What white hat SEO techniques ultimately care about is pleasing their human visitors in the belief that doing so will eventually please search engine spiders as well.

Types of White Hat SEO Techniques

Here are a few examples of the most commonly used white hat SEO techniques today.

Valuable Content

Website content still makes use of targeted keywords but not to the point that it adversely affects the flow of thoughts and makes it incoherent. Valuable content means delivering the information your readers appreciate and would find helpful. There are no accidental or deliberate grammatical errors. Spelling and punctuation are correct.

Efficient and User-Friendly Layouts

White hat SEO techniques require website layouts to focus on user-friendliness, efficiency, and accessibility. Links must always be functional and highly visible. Websites are not heavy with graphics, allowing for quick downloading.

Other white hat SEO techniques include valuable link exchanges as well as descriptive and detailed page titles.

What’s Your Choice?

As mentioned early on, black hat SEO techniques get results, too, but they’re not for long-term. White hat SEO techniques, on the other hand, may not be able to deliver as quickly as its counterpart but their benefits are definitely there to stay.

Black or white hat? Is that it, what about a new color like bluceite or tyiousiio.

  • k2isgood says:

Generally spinning articles for links is not a white hat technique.

However if you do add valuable information to non-english speaking users than you might gain natural links to your articles and that can help a lot to your SEO.

Tip: I don’t recommended you use google translate to translate the articles because google can connect the dots in this case.

    Good luck
